Credit card expirations are an unfortunate reality faced by all recurring donation programs. That's why Goodworld utilizes various tools to minimize revenue loss due to expiring cards.
When a recurring donation payment fails for any reason, the donor automatically receives a Payment Method Updater Email. This email informs the donor of the failed payment and provides a link to update their payment method.
The objective of the Expiring Recurring Donor email campaign is to notify donors about their expiring recurring payment method and facilitate the updating process before a payment fails.
To access the Expiring Recurring Donors email campaign:
Navigate to the side menu and Settings > Emails.
From the list of email templates, select Invalid Payment Info.
Who receives these emails?
Any recurring donor with a subscription payment method set to expire within 60 days will be included in this email campaign. The campaign operates on a drip system, removing supporters from the campaign as soon as they successfully update their Payment Method, ensuring they no longer receive the emails.
Which emails are sent?
Two templates representing four total emails can be configured, including:
30 days before a card expires
5 days before a card expires
The day a card expires
3 days after a card expires
How can supporters update their expiring payment methods?
Using this email automation, donors are directed to the Goodworld-hosted settings where they can update their expiring payment method. The linked button to this page is built into the email template.
