Waivers for Volunteer Opportunities

Require digital waiver signatures for volunteer opportunities

Written by Raagini Sarkar

Goodworld’s Waivers feature allows admins to require digital waiver signatures for volunteer opportunities. Waivers can be required for group leaders and individual participants, helping organizations collect agreements before volunteers attend an opportunity.

Admins can upload their own PDF waiver or customize Goodworld’s waiver template. Participants complete the waiver by checking an agreement box and entering their printed name.

How Waivers Work

When waivers are required for a volunteer opportunity, participants must complete the waiver as part of their registration process.

For group registrations, the group leader can reserve spots, but they cannot sign waivers on behalf of other participants. Instead, Goodworld allows group leaders to request registrant information from participants by email.

Participants can then:

  • Add their personal details

  • Answer any required custom questions

  • Review and sign the waiver

  • This ensures each participant completes their own required information and agreement.

  • Setting Up a Waiver

  • Admins can manage waivers by choosing one of the following options:

  • Upload a custom PDF waiver

  • Use and customize Goodworld’s waiver template

Once configured, the waiver can be required for the relevant volunteer opportunity.

How Participants Sign

Participants sign the waiver digitally by:

  • Reviewing the waiver terms

  • Checking the box to confirm agreement

  • Entering their printed name

This records their agreement directly within the volunteer registration flow.

Managing Group Registrations

If a group leader registers participants for an opportunity, they can send an email request through Goodworld asking each participant to complete their registrant information.

This email allows participants to access the form needed to add their details, answer questions, and sign the waiver themselves.

Tracking Waiver Status

Admins can track waiver completion from the Registrants tab.

A waiver status column shows whether each participant has signed the required waiver. This helps teams quickly confirm who has completed the requirement before check-in or attendance tracking.

Why Use Waivers

Waivers help organizations:

  • Collect required agreements digitally

  • Reduce manual paperwork

  • Support group volunteer registrations

  • Track completion before event day

  • Keep participant information, custom questions, and waiver status in one place

Waivers make it easier for admins to manage compliance requirements while keeping the volunteer registration experience simple and organized.
