Goodworld’s Raffles feature makes it easy to add prize drawings to an event — from selling raffle tickets and ticket bundles to managing prizes, allocating entries, awarding bonus tickets, and selecting winners.
Raffles can be used as part of a larger event or as a standalone raffle experience. They work especially well for prize drawings, gala raffles, community fundraising promotions, and other campaigns where participants purchase or receive entries for the chance to win one or more prizes.
How Raffles work
A raffle in Goodworld has three main components:
Raffle Tickets — The entries participants purchase or receive
Prizes — The items or experiences participants can enter to win
Draws — The winner selection process for each prize
Unlike a traditional event ticket, a raffle ticket does not create an event registration. Each raffle ticket represents an individual entry that can be allocated to an available prize.
For example, imagine your raffle includes:
A weekend getaway
Concert tickets
Dinner for two
A participant with 10 raffle tickets could allocate all 10 to the weekend getaway, split five and five between two prizes, or distribute their entries across all three.
Each prize has its own pool of allocated raffle tickets. When a winner is drawn for a particular prize, only the tickets allocated to that prize are included in the drawing.
When to Use Raffles
Use the Raffles feature when you want to:
Sell individual raffle tickets or ticket bundles
Offer raffle tickets alongside event registration or separately
Create and manage multiple raffle prizes
Let participants choose which prizes they want to enter to win
Award raffle tickets automatically based on qualifying actions
Define when raffle activity opens and closes
Allow participants to move entries between prizes
Track raffle ticket sales, participation, and allocations
Draw randomized winners directly in Goodworld
Support multiple winners for the same prize
Record raffle purchases made onsite or offline
Step 1: Create or Open Your Event
From the Events tab, create a new event or open the event where you want to run your raffle.
Your raffle can be part of a larger event, such as a gala or community fundraiser, or you can create an event specifically for the raffle.
Add the basic event information participants may need, including:
Event name
Description
Date and time
Location, if applicable
Time zone
Featured image or event graphic
If the raffle is the primary focus of the event, use the event description to clearly explain what participants are entering, when the raffle closes, and when winners will be selected.
Step 2: Enable the Raffle Feature
From your event, enable Raffle as one of the event’s features.
Once enabled, open the Raffle feature to configure the participant experience and raffle settings.
Raffle configuration is organized into two main areas:
User Journey
Use User Journey to configure the participant-facing raffle experience and access settings for:
Ticket Allocation Flow
Prizes
Ticket Inventory
Winner selection
A participant-facing preview appears alongside your settings so you can see how the raffle experience will appear as you make changes.
Advanced Settings
Use Advanced Settings to configure:
Raffle Window
Ticket Re-allocation
Bonus Automations
Step 3: Customize the Ticket Allocation Flow
Select Ticket Allocation Flow from the User Journey settings to customize the instructions and button labels participants see when assigning raffle tickets to prizes.
The participant experience can display:
Number of raffle tickets available
Available prizes
Prize descriptions
Estimated prize values
Number of tickets being allocated to each prize
Button text for continuing through the process
Use this area to make the raffle experience clear and specific to your event.
For example, you may want to explain that participants can place multiple entries toward a single prize or divide their entries among several prizes.
Step 4: Create Your Raffle Prizes
Open the Prize Catalog or select Configure beside Manage Prizes.
Select + Add Prize to create each prize participants can enter to win.
For each prize, add:
Prize name
Description
Estimated value
Image
Number of winners
A square-format image will provide the best presentation within the Prize Catalog.
For example, one raffle could include:
Prize | Estimated Value | Winners |
Weekend Getaway | $1,500 | 1 |
Concert Tickets | $500 | 1 |
Gift Basket | $250 | 3 |
Each prize can have its own number of winners, allowing you to support both single-winner and multi-winner prizes within the same raffle.
You can also enable, disable, edit, or delete prizes from the Prize Catalog as needed.
Step 5: Create Raffle Ticket Options
Raffle tickets are created from your event’s Tickets area.
Navigate to:
Event → Tickets → Create New Ticket
Choose the option to create a Raffle Ticket.
Raffle tickets support many of the same configuration options as traditional event tickets, including:
Price
Free tickets
Pay What You Want pricing
Total quantity available
Maximum quantity per participant
Description
Availability start and end dates
Custom attributes
Purchase tags
Purchase tags can be especially useful if you want to categorize or report on raffle-related revenue.
Individual Raffle Tickets
An individual raffle ticket represents one raffle entry.
For example:
1 Raffle Ticket — $5
Participants can purchase multiple individual tickets, subject to any quantity limits you configure.
Each raffle ticket can then be allocated individually to an available prize.
Raffle Ticket Bundles
You can also create ticket bundles containing multiple raffle entries.
For example:
Ticket Option | Entries | Price |
Single Raffle Ticket | 1 | $5 |
Raffle Ticket Bundle | 5 | $20 |
Bundles can encourage participants to purchase more entries while offering a lower effective price per ticket.
Each entry within a bundle remains an individual raffle entry. A participant who purchases five entries can allocate all five to one prize or distribute them across several prizes.
Step 6: Decide Where Participants Can Purchase Tickets
Raffle tickets can be incorporated into your event in several ways.
Depending on your event structure, you might:
Offer raffle tickets during event registration
Allow participants to purchase raffle tickets before the event
Sell raffle tickets separately from event registration
Create a dedicated raffle purchase experience
Sell additional raffle tickets during an in-person event
This allows the same raffle to support both advance sales and event-day purchases.
If you are running a raffle without a traditional in-person event, keep the public experience focused on purchasing tickets, reviewing prizes, and allocating entries.
Step 7: Set Your Raffle Window
From Advanced Settings, select Raffle Window.
You can optionally configure:
Opening date and time
Closing date and time
You can also leave the raffle open without a defined opening or closing time.
The raffle window allows you to control the period during which raffle activity takes place. For example, you might begin selling tickets several weeks before an event while leaving prize allocation open until later on event night.
Setting a closing time can also help ensure participant entries are finalized before winner selection begins.
Step 8: Configure Ticket Re-allocation
Turn on Allow Ticket Re-allocation if participants should be able to change how their entries are distributed between prizes before the raffle closes.
For example, a participant who initially allocated all five tickets to one prize could later move two tickets to another prize.
When Ticket Re-allocation is disabled, participants cannot change their prize selections after their entries have been submitted.
Ticket Re-allocation is disabled by default, allowing your organization to decide whether prize selections should remain final.
Step 9: Award Bonus Raffle Tickets
In addition to selling raffle tickets, Goodworld can automatically issue raffle entries when participants complete qualifying actions.
Navigate to:
Event → Features → Raffle → Bonus Automations
Select Add Rule to create an automation.
Bonus Automations can award tickets based on actions such as:
Event check-in
Qualifying pledge activity
For example, you might automatically award:
1 raffle ticket when an attendee checks in
A specified number of raffle tickets when a participant reaches a qualifying pledge level
For each automation, configure:
Qualifying trigger
Number of raffle tickets to award
Start date or time, when applicable
End date or time, when applicable
Once the qualifying criteria are met, the corresponding raffle tickets are automatically issued to the participant.
Review Bonus Issuance History
Use Issuance History to review tickets distributed through Bonus Automations.
This provides admins with a record of which participants received bonus entries and how those entries were issued.
Bonus Automations can be especially helpful when you want to reward participation or encourage specific actions without requiring participants to purchase additional tickets.
Step 10: Create a Raffle Purchase on Behalf of a Participant
Admins can also create raffle ticket purchases from the Goodworld backend.
Navigate to Transactions, select Create New, choose the appropriate participant, and add the raffle ticket or ticket bundle to the transaction.
Once the transaction is created, those raffle tickets become available to the participant and can be allocated to eligible prizes.
This can be helpful when:
Recording onsite raffle sales
Accepting offline payments
Assisting an attendee with a purchase
Recording raffle purchases collected by event staff
Step 11: Participants Allocate Their Tickets
After purchasing or receiving raffle tickets, participants enter the raffle experience and allocate their available tickets to the prizes they want to win.
Participants can see their available raffle ticket balance along with the prizes included in the raffle.
For each prize, they can review information such as:
Prize name
Description
Estimated value
They then choose how many entries they want to allocate to each prize.
For example, a participant with six raffle tickets might allocate:
4 tickets to the weekend getaway
2 tickets to the restaurant package
0 tickets to the concert tickets
Each allocated raffle ticket becomes an individual entry in that specific prize’s drawing.
If Ticket Re-allocation is enabled, participants can change these allocations until the raffle closes.
Step 12: Review Raffle Activity in Inventory
Open the Inventory tab from the Raffle dashboard to review tickets associated with the event.
Navigate to:
Event → Features → Raffle → Inventory
Inventory provides a centralized view of purchased and issued raffle tickets and whether they have been allocated to prizes.
Raffle inventory can include entries generated through:
Participant purchases
Raffle ticket bundles
Admin-created transactions
Bonus Automations
Use Inventory to review participant activity and confirm that entries have been allocated appropriately before beginning your drawings.
Where available, you can also review the Allocation History associated with a raffle entry to see how tickets have been assigned to prizes.
Step 13: Monitor Raffle Performance
The Raffle dashboard provides an at-a-glance view of your raffle.
Admins can monitor:
Raffle Revenue — Total revenue generated through raffle ticket sales
Tickets Sold — Number of raffle tickets sold compared with the total available
Unique Participants — Number of individual participants associated with raffle tickets
Allocated Tickets — Number and percentage of sold tickets that have been assigned to prizes
You can also quickly review whether the raffle is currently open and access the opening and closing settings.
Below the overview, raffle management is organized into:
Prize Catalog
Inventory
Bonus Automation
Draws & Winners
Step 14: Draw Raffle Winners
Once ticket sales and prize allocations are complete, open Draws & Winners.
Navigate to:
Event → Features → Raffle → Draw Winners
Winner selection is managed separately for each prize.
Select the prize you want to draw and choose Run Random Draw.
Goodworld randomly selects a winner from the raffle tickets allocated to that specific prize.
For example, if 150 raffle tickets were allocated to a vacation package, the winner is selected from those 150 eligible entries. Tickets allocated to other prizes are not included in that drawing.
Repeat the process for each prize.
Multiple Winners
If a prize has been configured with multiple winners, the winner table will display each selected winner associated with that prize.
For example, if you have five identical gift baskets, the prize can be configured with five available winners.
Manually Select a Winner
Admins can also use Select Winners Manually to record a specific allocated raffle ticket as the winner.
This can be useful if a drawing took place outside of Goodworld and you want to record the resulting winner within the platform.
Only tickets allocated to the selected prize are eligible to be selected.
Step 15: Test the Raffle Experience
Before promoting your raffle publicly, walk through the experience from beginning to end.
Confirm that:
Raffle ticket options and bundles are configured correctly
Ticket prices and quantity limits are correct
All prizes appear in the Prize Catalog
Prize descriptions, values, and images display correctly
Participants can purchase or receive raffle tickets as expected
Participants can allocate tickets to prizes
Ticket Re-allocation behaves as intended
Bonus Automations work correctly, if applicable
Raffle entries appear correctly in Inventory
The raffle opening and closing settings are correct
Testing the complete participant journey before launch can help prevent confusion once ticket sales begin.
Step 16: Share Your Raffle
Once the raffle is finalized, share the event or raffle purchase experience wherever you plan to promote it.
Common promotion channels include:
Organization website
Event website
Email campaigns
Social media
Printed flyers
QR codes at in-person events
Partner websites or newsletters
Make sure promotional materials clearly communicate:
What participants can win
Raffle ticket pricing
When entries close
When winners will be selected
Any eligibility requirements
Where participants can find official raffle rules
Rules and Disclosures
Organizations are responsible for including any rules, eligibility requirements, disclosures, or other information required for their raffle.
Depending on your raffle, this may include:
Purchaser or participant eligibility
Minimum age requirements
Raffle opening and closing dates
Winner drawing date and time
Whether winners need to be present
How winners will be notified
Where winners will be announced
How proceeds will be used or distributed
Any applicable raffle license or compliance language
These details can be included in your event description or linked to a separate rules page.
Best Practices
Make prizes easy to understand. Use clear prize names, descriptions, estimated values, and high-quality images so participants know exactly what they are entering to win.
Explain ticket allocation. If your raffle includes multiple prizes, make it clear that purchasing raffle tickets gives participants entries that they can then distribute among the prizes they want to win.
Set a clear closing time. When possible, define when the raffle closes so participants know when their allocations need to be finalized.
Consider whether re-allocation makes sense. If participants should be able to change their minds before the drawing, enable Ticket Re-allocation. If selections should be final, leave it disabled.
Use bundles to encourage participation. Offering several entries at a discounted effective price can encourage participants to purchase more raffle tickets.
Use Bonus Automations strategically. Awarding entries for actions like checking in or reaching a qualifying pledge level can help connect your raffle to broader event participation.
Review Inventory before drawing winners. Confirm that raffle tickets have been issued and allocated correctly before running your drawings.
Test the full experience before launch. Complete the same purchase and allocation steps your participants will follow so you can identify any confusing language or settings before promoting the raffle.
Goodworld Raffles allow organizations to manage the entire raffle experience in one place — from ticket sales and prize management through participant allocation, bonus entries, inventory tracking, and winner selection.
