Raffles

Sell and issue raffle tickets, allocate entries and manage prizes.

Written by Raagini Sarkar

Raffles make it easy to add prize drawings to your events in Goodworld — from selling and issuing raffle tickets to managing prizes, allocating entries, and selecting winners.

With Raffles, you can:

  • Sell individual raffle tickets or ticket bundles

  • Offer raffle tickets alongside event registration or separately

  • Create and manage multiple raffle prizes

  • Let participants choose which prizes they want to enter to win

  • Automatically award raffle tickets based on actions like event check-in or pledge activity

  • Set when raffle ticket sales open and close

  • Allow participants to move their entries between prizes

  • Track ticket sales, allocation, and participation

  • Run randomized winner drawings for each prize

  • Support multiple winners for the same prize

How Raffles Work

A raffle in Goodworld has three main components:

  1. Raffle Tickets — The entries participants purchase or receive.

  2. Prizes — The items or experiences participants can enter to win.

  3. Draws — The winner selection process for each prize.

Unlike a traditional event ticket, a raffle ticket does not create an event registration. Instead, each raffle ticket represents an individual entry that can be allocated to a prize.

For example, imagine your raffle includes:

  • A weekend getaway

  • Concert tickets

  • Dinner for two

A participant with 10 raffle tickets could allocate all 10 to the weekend getaway, split five and five between two prizes, or distribute their entries across all three.

Each prize has its own pool of allocated raffle tickets. When a winner is drawn for a particular prize, only the tickets allocated to that prize are included.

Enable and Configure Raffles

When creating or configuring an event, enable Raffle as one of the event features.

Once enabled, open the Raffle feature to configure the participant experience and advanced raffle settings.

Raffle configuration is organized into two areas:

  • User Journey — Customize the participant allocation experience and access prize, ticket inventory, and winner settings.

  • Advanced Settings — Manage your raffle window, ticket re-allocation, and Bonus Automations.

A participant-facing preview appears on the right side of the configuration screen so you can see how the raffle experience will appear as you make changes.

Configure the User Journey

The User Journey tab contains the primary settings that determine how participants interact with your raffle.

Ticket Allocation Flow

Select Ticket allocation flow to customize the instructions and button labels participants see while assigning their raffle tickets to prizes.

The preview on the right displays the participant experience, including:

  • The number of raffle tickets available

  • Available prizes

  • Prize descriptions

  • Estimated prize values

  • The number of tickets being allocated to each prize

  • The button participants use to continue through the process

This gives you the flexibility to tailor the language of the raffle experience to your event.

Manage Prizes

Select Configure beside Manage Prizes to add and organize the prizes available in your raffle.

Ticket Inventory

Select Configure beside Ticket Inventory to manage the raffle ticket quantities available for purchase.

Draw Winners

Select Configure beside Draw Winners to access winner selection and management.

Configure Advanced Settings

Open the Raffle feature and select Advanced Settings to manage additional raffle rules.

Raffle Window

Select Raffle Window to optionally define when raffle ticket sales open and close.

You can configure a specific:

  • Opening date and time

  • Closing date and time

Or, leave the raffle open without a defined opening or closing time.

This gives you flexibility to make raffle tickets available before an event, only during the event, or across a specific campaign period.

Allow Ticket Re-allocation

Turn on Allow ticket re-allocation if participants should be able to move their raffle tickets between prizes until the raffle closes.

For example, a participant who initially assigned all five of their tickets to one prize could later move two of those entries to another prize.

When ticket re-allocation is disabled, participants cannot change their prize allocations after they have been submitted.

Bonus Automation

Select Bonus Automation to create rules that automatically issue raffle tickets based on qualifying participant actions.

Bonus Automations can be used to award raffle tickets based on actions such as:

  • Event check-in

  • Qualifying pledge activity

For example, you might automatically award one raffle ticket to every participant who checks into your event.

Create Raffle Tickets

Raffle tickets are created from the event's Tickets area.

Navigate to:

Event → Tickets → Create New Ticket

Choose the option to create a Raffle Ticket.

Raffle tickets support many of the same configuration options as traditional event tickets, including:

  • Price

  • Free tickets

  • Pay What You Want pricing

  • Total quantity available

  • Maximum quantity per participant

  • Description

  • Availability start and end dates

  • Custom attributes

  • Purchase tags

Purchase tags can be especially useful when you want to categorize or report on raffle-related revenue.

Create Individual Raffle Tickets

An individual raffle ticket represents one raffle entry.

For example:

1 Raffle Ticket — $5

Participants can purchase multiple individual raffle tickets, subject to any quantity limits you configure.

Each ticket can then be allocated to an available prize.

Create Raffle Ticket Bundles

You can also create raffle ticket bundles that include multiple entries within a single purchase.

For example:

Ticket Option

Entries

Price

Single Raffle Ticket

1

$5

Raffle Ticket Bundle

5

$20

Bundles can be used to encourage participants to purchase more entries while offering a discounted effective price per ticket.

Each entry included in the bundle can still be allocated individually across available prizes.

Choose Where Participants Can Purchase Raffle Tickets

Raffle tickets can be incorporated into your event in several ways depending on how your raffle is structured.

For example, you might:

  • Offer raffle tickets while participants are registering for the event

  • Allow attendees to purchase raffle tickets before the event

  • Sell raffle tickets separately from event registration

  • Create a dedicated raffle purchase experience

  • Sell additional raffle tickets during an in-person event

This gives organizations flexibility to run both advance-sale and event-day raffles.

Manage Your Raffle

The Raffle dashboard gives admins an at-a-glance view of raffle performance while providing access to the tools needed to manage prizes, tickets, automations, and winners.

At the top of the dashboard, you can monitor:

  • Raffle revenue — Total revenue generated through raffle ticket sales

  • Tickets sold — The number of raffle tickets sold compared with the total number available

  • Unique participants — The number of individual participants associated with raffle tickets

  • Allocated tickets — The number and percentage of sold tickets that have been assigned to prizes

You can also quickly see whether the Raffle is open and access its opening and closing settings.

The Manage winner selection draw area provides visibility into completed winner selections and quick access to the drawing process.

Below the overview, raffle management is organized into four tabs:

  • Prize Catalog

  • Inventory

  • Bonus Automation

  • Draws & Winners

Create and Manage Raffle Prizes

Open the Prize Catalog tab to manage the prizes available in your raffle.

The Prize Catalog displays important information for each prize, including:

  • Prize image

  • Prize name

  • Estimated value

  • Number of winners

  • Status

Select + Add prize to create a new raffle prize.

Add the information participants need to understand what they are entering to win, including the prize name, description, value, and image.

For the best presentation within the Prize Catalog, use a square-format image.

Existing prizes can be edited directly from the Prize Catalog. You can also enable or disable a prize using its status control or delete prizes that are no longer needed.

Configure the Number of Winners

Each prize can be configured with the appropriate number of winners.

For example:

  • One vacation package may have 1 winner

  • Five identical gift baskets may have 5 winners

This makes it possible to support both single-winner and multiple-winner prizes within the same raffle.

You can create multiple prizes within the same event, allowing participants to decide which opportunities they are most interested in winning.

The Participant Ticket Allocation Experience

After purchasing or receiving raffle tickets, participants allocate their available tickets to the prizes they want to enter to win.

The ticket allocation experience displays the participant's available raffle ticket balance along with the prizes included in the raffle.

For each prize, participants can see information such as:

  • Prize name

  • Description

  • Estimated value

Participants then choose how many of their available raffle tickets they want to allocate to each prize.

For example, a participant with three raffle tickets could:

  • Allocate all three tickets to one prize

  • Allocate one ticket each to three different prizes

  • Split their tickets across two prizes

Each allocated raffle ticket becomes an individual entry in the drawing for that specific prize.

If ticket re-allocation is enabled, participants can move their entries between prizes until the raffle closes.

Manage Raffle Ticket Inventory

Open the Inventory tab from the Raffle dashboard to review the raffle tickets associated with your event.

Inventory gives admins visibility into purchased and issued raffle tickets and whether those tickets have been allocated to prizes.

Use this area to review raffle activity and confirm that participant entries have been assigned appropriately before winner selection.

Where available, admins can also review the allocation history associated with a raffle entry.

Raffle ticket inventory can include entries created through:

  • Participant raffle ticket purchases

  • Raffle ticket bundles

  • Admin-created transactions

  • Bonus Automations

Award Raffle Tickets with Bonus Automations

Bonus Automations allow you to award raffle tickets automatically when participants complete qualifying actions.

Open the Bonus Automation tab or select Bonus Automation from Advanced Settings to create and manage rules.

When creating a rule, configure:

  • The qualifying trigger

  • The number of raffle tickets to award

  • When the rule should begin

  • When the rule should end

For example, you might create a rule that automatically awards:

  • 1 raffle ticket when an attendee checks in

  • A specified number of raffle tickets when a participant reaches a qualifying pledge level

Once the criteria are met, the corresponding raffle tickets are automatically issued to the participant.

Review Bonus Issuance History

Bonus Automation includes an issuance history that allows admins to review the raffle tickets distributed through automation rules.

This makes it easier to understand who received bonus entries and how those entries were issued.

Bonus Automations can be especially useful for rewarding participation or encouraging actions that support the goals of your event.

Create a Raffle Ticket Purchase on Behalf of a Participant

Admins can also create raffle ticket transactions on behalf of participants.

Navigate to Transactions, select Create New, choose the appropriate participant, and add the raffle ticket or ticket bundle to the transaction.

Once the transaction is created, those raffle tickets become available to the participant and can be allocated to eligible prizes.

This can be helpful when:

  • Recording onsite raffle sales

  • Accepting offline payments

  • Assisting an attendee with a purchase

  • Recording raffle purchases collected by event staff

Draw Raffle Winners

Once ticket allocation is complete, open the Draws & Winners tab to select winners.

Winner drawings are managed by prize.

Choose the prize you want to draw and select Run Random Draw.

Goodworld randomly selects a winner from the raffle tickets that have been allocated to that specific prize.

For example, if 150 raffle tickets were allocated to a vacation package, the winner is selected from those 150 eligible entries. Tickets allocated to another prize are not included in that drawing.

Repeat the process for each raffle prize.

Multiple Winners

If a prize has been configured with multiple winners, the Draws & Winners area displays each winner associated with that prize.

This allows organizations to manage both single-winner and multiple-winner drawings from the same raffle.

Manually Select Winners

Admins can also use Select Winners Manually to record a specific allocated raffle ticket as the winner.

This can be useful when a drawing has been conducted outside of Goodworld and you want to record the resulting winner within the platform.

Only tickets allocated to the selected prize are eligible to be selected.

Advanced Settings allow you to control when the raffle is open and how participants can manage their entries.

Set a Raffle Window

Use the raffle window to define when raffle activity opens and closes.

Configure an:

  • Open date and time

  • Close date and time

The raffle window can help ensure entries are finalized before winner drawings begin.

Your raffle window can be configured independently based on how you want to run the event. For example, raffle tickets may be sold before the event while the final entry deadline remains open until later in the event itself.

Allow Ticket Reallocation

Enable Ticket Reallocation if you want participants to be able to move their raffle tickets between prizes before the raffle closes.

For example, someone who originally entered five tickets for Prize A could later move two of those entries to Prize B.

When reallocation is disabled, participants' prize selections remain final once their tickets have been entered.

Ticket Reallocation is disabled by default, giving organizations control over whether participants can revise their prize selections.

Award Tickets Automatically with Bonus Automations

In addition to selling raffle tickets, Goodworld can automatically award raffle entries when participants complete certain actions.

Navigate to:

Event → Features → Raffle → Bonus Automations

Select Add Rule to create a bonus ticket rule.

Bonus Automations can issue raffle tickets based on triggers including:

  • Event check-in

  • Pledge activity or pledge level

For example, you could create a rule that automatically awards:

  • 1 raffle ticket when an attendee checks in

  • A specified number of raffle tickets when a participant reaches a qualifying pledge level

For each rule, configure the number of raffle tickets to issue and, when applicable, the date and time period during which the rule should be active.

Once the trigger criteria are met, the corresponding raffle tickets are automatically issued to the participant.

Bonus Issuance History

Use the Issuance History to review tickets distributed through Bonus Automations.

This provides admins with a record of which participants received bonus tickets and the automation responsible for issuing them.

Bonus Automations can be especially useful for rewarding participation or encouraging specific behaviors without requiring attendees to purchase additional entries.

Manage Raffle Ticket Inventory

The Inventory area provides a centralized view of raffle tickets associated with the event.

Navigate to:

Event → Features → Raffle → Inventory

Inventory includes raffle entries created through:

  • Participant purchases

  • Admin-created purchases

  • Raffle ticket bundles

  • Bonus Automations

Admins can use this area to review each participant's available tickets and allocation status.

You can also open the Allocation History for a raffle entry to review how tickets have been assigned to prizes.

This can be especially useful before closing the raffle or beginning winner drawings.

Create a Raffle Ticket Purchase on Behalf of a Participant

Admins can also create raffle ticket transactions on behalf of participants from the Goodworld backend.

Navigate to Transactions, select Create New, choose the participant, and add the appropriate raffle ticket or bundle to the transaction.

Once created, those raffle entries are added to the participant's available raffle ticket inventory and can be entered into eligible prizes.

This can be useful when:

  • Recording an onsite raffle purchase

  • Accepting an offline payment

  • Helping an attendee complete a transaction

  • Entering raffle purchases collected by event staff

Draw Raffle Winners

Once raffle entries have been finalized, admins can select winners directly from the Raffle feature.

Navigate to:

Event → Features → Raffle → Draw Winners

Winner drawings are performed by prize.

Select the prize you would like to draw and choose Run Random Draw.

Goodworld randomly selects a winner from the raffle tickets that were allocated to that prize.

For example, if 150 raffle tickets were entered for the Bahamas trip, the random draw selects from those 150 eligible entries. Tickets allocated to another prize are not included.

After the draw is complete, the selected winner appears in the winner table.

Repeat this process for each raffle prize.

Multiple Winners

If a prize has multiple available winners, the winner table displays each selected winner associated with that prize.

This allows organizations to manage both single-winner and multi-winner prizes from the same raffle.

Manually Select Winners

Admins can also use Select Winners Manually to record a specific allocated raffle ticket as the winner.

This provides an alternative to Goodworld's randomized drawing workflow when a winner needs to be recorded manually.

Only raffle tickets allocated to the selected prize can be chosen.

Example: Running a Raffle from Start to Finish

Imagine your organization is hosting an annual gala with three raffle prizes:

  1. A weekend getaway

  2. Concert tickets

  3. A restaurant package

Before the Event

Create two raffle ticket options:

  • 1 raffle entry for $5

  • 5 raffle entries for $20

Allow attendees to purchase raffle tickets while registering for the gala.

Create all three prizes in the Prize Catalog and configure their descriptions, estimated values, images, and number of winners.

At the Event

Create a Bonus Automation that awards one raffle ticket whenever an attendee checks in.

Guests can also purchase additional raffle tickets onsite.

Participants Enter to Win

Participants open the raffle experience and allocate their available tickets among the prizes they want to win.

A participant with six raffle tickets might allocate:

  • 4 tickets to the weekend getaway

  • 2 tickets to the restaurant package

  • 0 tickets to the concert tickets

Each ticket becomes an entry in the corresponding prize's drawing.

When the Raffle Closes

Once the raffle window closes, open Draws & Winners and run a separate randomized drawing for each prize.

Only tickets allocated to each respective prize are included in that prize's drawing.
