Overview
Goodworld's QR code check-in feature lets event staff verify and check in guests in seconds using any device with a camera. Each ticket has its own unique QR code, so check-in is secure and tied to a specific registration — no guessing, no impersonation.
Works on phones, tablets, and desktop browsers
Requires camera permission
Event staff role or higher
This feature works best on a phone or iPad, making it easy to move through a line quickly and check in guests one after another without switching screens.
How attendee tickets work
When a purchaser buys tickets, they can manage their attendees from the purchaser view. Each attendee ticket can have information filled in (such as name, email, or phone number), and every ticket is issued its own unique QR code. While tickets may look visually similar, each code is distinct and tied to a single registration.
Scanning a ticket at check-in
To check in a guest using their QR code:
Go to Registration Management for your event.
Open the Actions menu and select Scan Credential.
Allow camera access when prompted by your browser. A live camera preview will appear.
Hold the attendee's QR code up to the camera. The guest's information will load automatically.
Review the details and click Confirm Check-In to mark the guest as arrived.
Tap Scan Another to move to the next guest.
What you see after a scan
Once a QR code is scanned, a guest card appears with the following information: the guest's registered name (if provided), email and/or phone number (if on file), ticket type (e.g. General Admission), registration number, and check-in status showing whether the guest is ready to check in or has already arrived.
Already checked-in guests
If a ticket has already been checked in and you scan it again, the system will display an "Already Checked In" status. You can still confirm check-in again if needed — for example, to resend an SMS confirmation to the guest. If an invalid or unrecognized QR code is scanned, an error message will appear. Simply tap Scan Another and try again.
Sending an SMS confirmation
If a guest has a phone number on their registration, you can trigger an SMS check-in confirmation from the scan result screen. This is available even if the guest was already checked in — just re-scan their code and confirm check-in to trigger the message.
Troubleshooting camera access
If camera access has been denied, you'll see a message: "Camera access was denied. Please allow camera access in your browser and try again." To fix this, reset camera permissions in your browser settings, reload the page, and allow access when prompted. The camera preview will appear once permission is granted. On most mobile devices, you can reset permissions by tapping the lock icon or site settings in your browser's address bar.
Tips for fast check-in at large events
For high-volume events with long lines: use an iPad for a larger camera viewfinder and easier scanning in a crowd; grant camera permission before the event starts to avoid delays at the door; after each check-in, tap Scan Another to immediately return to the scanner; and ask guests to have their QR code ready on their phone or a printed ticket before reaching the front of the line.
QR scanning is more secure than name-based lookup — it verifies a physical credential tied to a specific registration, reducing the risk of unauthorized entry.
