Scan to Pay allows admins to generate a secure, one-time QR code so attendees can complete their purchase directly on their own device. This creates a faster, more flexible checkout experience—without requiring staff to handle credit cards or manually enter payment details.

Whether you’re processing event tickets, donations, or auction payments, Scan to Pay makes in-person transactions seamless.

Where to Find Scan to Pay

Event Dashboard → Transactions (Donations & Pledges)

When administering a purchase from the Transactions tab in your Event Dashboard:

  1. Select the transaction or begin a new purchase.

  2. At the Payment Method step, choose Scan to Pay.

  3. A unique QR code will generate for the attendee to scan.

How Scan to Pay Works

Once the QR code appears:

  • The attendee scans the code using their phone camera.

  • The QR code acts as a magic link, containing a secure, one-time authorization code.

  • The attendee is automatically logged in—no additional authentication required.

  • They can:

    • Use a digital wallet (Apple Pay / Google Pay, if enabled)

    • Select a saved payment method

    • Enter a new card number (most browsers will suggest auto-fill if available)

After payment is completed:

  • The admin dashboard displays a Success confirmation.

  • The system automatically returns to the Transactions page.

Important Notes

  • The QR code expires after 10 minutes.

  • This ensures security while giving the attendee sufficient time to complete payment.

  • If the code expires, simply generate a new one.

Using Scan to Pay for Auctions

Scan to Pay is also available for auction item payments.

When viewing an auction transaction:

  1. Click the three-dot menu.

  2. Select Scan to Pay (located directly below Charge Now).

This allows you to securely collect payment from a winning bidder without manually entering their payment information.

Why Use Scan to Pay?

Scan to Pay is especially helpful for:

  • In-person events and galas

  • Auction checkout stations

  • Front desk or day-of registration

  • Situations where staff should not handle attendee credit cards

It creates a smoother, contactless payment experience while maintaining full transaction tracking inside Goodworld.
