Group Sign Up allows users to register multiple people for a volunteer opportunity— perfect for company representatives or team leads managing group participation. Whether you’re coordinating a department-wide day of service or signing up for you and your friend, this feature makes group registration easy and organized.
How it works
When Group Sign Up is enabled for a volunteer opportunity, users are given the option to register:
As an individual
Or as part of a group
This appears directly on the opportunity page and guides users through the process step-by-step.
How to enable group sign up
To activate Group Sign Up for a specific opportunity:
Navigate to the Volunteering module.
Click into the opportunity you’d like to edit.
Select the Features tab, then go to Registration > Advanced Settings.
Toggle Group Registration ON.
Setting up a group registration
When signing up a group:
The person registering must enter the number of participants they are signing up.
The system will prevent overbooking—if the number of requested participants exceeds available slots, the registration cannot proceed.
The registrant must assign participant counts to each available shift.
Even if the group organizer is not attending, they must sign the waiver and agree to any group-related clauses.
The person registering on behalf of the group is responsible for inputting basic participant information.
Managing participant details
After shift selection, the group organizer can:
1. Fill Out Participant Info Themselves
They manually enter the names and contact info of each participant they are registering.
2. Invite Participants to Add Their Own Details
They can click the Invite Participant button to generate a unique link for each shift.
This link opens a blank form that allows a participant to claim their spot and enter their own information.
Links can be shared via email, Slack, or text—whatever works for your group.
Once a participant uses their link, their details are connected to the shift.
This flexibility allows group leads to either manage registrations directly or empower participants to complete their own sign-up process.
Corporate group registration use case
Imagine you’re a company rep signing up your team for a local tree-planting event. You want to reserve 10 spots across two shifts. You can:
Select the option to Sign up a group fo people. Then, specify the number.
In the next steps, assign them across the any open shifts.
Either fill in everyone’s details up front—or send them personalized links to claim their shift and enter their info.
