Note

Each campaign created by an admin in the Goodworld platform has its own Communications tab. This is where admins are able to create email blasts to promote the campaign as well as view and manage Automated emails, Drafts, Scheduled emails and Sent emails.

Creating an email blast

Here's a step-by-step on how to create an email blast for a campaign:

  1. Click on the Communications tab within the Campaign you wish to create an email blast for.

  2. Click the “Create email” button on the top right corner.

  3. Title your email blast. This title is only used as an internal label and will not be displayed to your recipients.

  4. Choose an email template from which to design your email.

  5. Customize the subject line and content in your email. Use the drag and drop panel to add buttons, titles, links and text. Personalize the email with merge tags.

  6. When satisfied, either“Save & Close” the email as a Draft or select “Save & Schedule” if you are ready to immediately send or schedule the email for a specified date in the future.

  7. At this point, admins are prompted to manually input recipients, build an audience or upload a CSV spreadsheet of recipients.

  8. Confirm and schedule your email for sending.

Audience Segmentation

Admins have the option of either uploading a CSV or building an audience. Within Goodworld’s Audience Builder, admins can select recipients based on their interactions within a campaign or select recipients based on the way they’ve been tagged in the platform.

Admins can choose to send an email to donors of the campaign, non-donors, non-respondents and other smart segments. Goodworld’s tagging feature enables admins to categorize contacts in any way they choose. For example, the tagging feature can be used to tag contacts based on ZIP codes, departments or cause interests. Within the Audience Builder, admins can apply tags to filter for recipients that are categorized by certain groups and tags.

Automated Communications

Goodworld offers a variety of pre-built automated communications templates that admins can easily customize. By default, these emails correspond to the following actions.

Acknowledgements are sent to donors when a one-time or recurring gift is made.

Account Created emails are sent to users when they create an account on the platform. Donors are able to view their giving history on the platform if they create an account.

Gift Notifications are sent to admins when a gift is made to the campaign.

Verification Codes are sent when users request a verification code to access their account or campaign site.

Campaigns Created notifications are sent to organizers and admins when a new campaign is created.

Payroll Acknowledgements are sent to donors when a payroll pledge is made.

Rewards earned notifications are sent to donors when they earn a reward that is available within a campaign.

New Team Member Notifications are sent to peer-to-peer organizers when someone joins their team.

Team Created Notifications are sent to admins when a new team is created within a campaign.

Fundraiser Created Notifications are sent to organizers and admins when a new fundraiser is created.

Online Fundraising Use Case

United Ways can collaborate with their corporate partners to solicit participation from employees in Workplace and Payroll Giving campaigns. The strategic communication during the solicitation period is critical to promote maximum participation. Goodworld’s communication tools make it easy for organizations to create personalized and effective automated emails to communities and teams.

The Welcome Email that introduces new users to the Payroll Giving program and invites them to explore how their donations can make a lasting impact through a recurring payroll deduction.

As donors join, Payroll Acknowledgement Emails are triggered to thank them for their payroll pledges, providing a tailored response based on gift impact which reinforces the value of their contribution.

Gift Notifications keep admins updated in real-time, ensuring prompt follow-up with corporate partners to share the campaign’s success. This automated, multi-touch communication strategy enhances donor engagement, encourages ongoing support, and streamlines campaign management, ensuring United Way's team can maintain meaningful connections with both donors and corporate partners.

Engagement Metrics

In the Sent tab, admins can track every email that was created and sent to an audience along with the date sent, the number of recipients and the corresponding open rates, click rates, and bounce rates. Admins can also sort their list of emails by the date sent and by the number of recipients. Clicking the number of recipients will provide a detailed breakdown of the number of opens and clicks for each contact. Admins can also click on the three dots on the right hand corner of each email to Export CSV with the engagement data.

Recipients

Tracking the number of recipients helps admins measure the scale and reach of their campaigns, which is essential for understanding potential engagement levels. The ability to click on the number of recipients for a detailed view (showing opens and clicks for each contact) allows admins to pinpoint high-value connections and identify particularly engaged donors, helping with targeted follow-up and relationship-building efforts.

Open Rates

The Open Rate metric is a key indicator of how compelling the email subject line and preview are. High open rates reflect successful audience engagement at the initial stage of email communication, while low open rates suggest a need to improve subject lines or audience targeting. This insight helps admins refine their approach for future outreach.

Click Rates

Click Rates show how many recipients took action based on the email content, indicating interest in the calls-to-action (CTAs). High click rates suggest effective messaging and strong CTAs, while lower rates may indicate a need for more relevant content or clearer action prompts. This information enables admins to adjust future emails to better inspire action.

Bounce Rates

Bounce Rates highlight deliverability issues, helping admins understand if there are problems with their email list quality. A high bounce rate may suggest outdated contact information, while a low bounce rate indicates a healthy list. This metric guides efforts to maintain a clean and effective contact database, enhancing future campaign success.

Together, these metrics offer a comprehensive view of email engagement, allowing admins to refine and optimize their communication strategies based on audience behavior and campaign performance.

Reports

In addition to the engagement metrics that are displayed in the Sent tab, admins can create and schedule reports containing communications engagement metrics. When admins click into the Templates tab under Reports, changing the “Export Type” will create a report on engagement metrics including Non-Respondents, Non-Donors and No-Pledge Participants.

Event Communications

Goodworld’s event communication capabilities make it easy to connect with supporters on their smartphones through text (SMS) engagement, mobile giving, ticketing, registration, and real-time notifications. These features allow nonprofits to create seamless and engaging experiences, whether for fundraising, event registration, or auction participation, helping maximize donor involvement at every stage.

Text Engagement & Mobile Giving

Goodworld empowers organizations with "catchy shortcodes" — easy-to-remember 4-10-character codes that supporters can text to a designated phone number to instantly make a donation, register for an event, or access event details on their smartphones. These shortcodes streamline the giving and participation process, enabling supporters to act on their desire to contribute with minimal friction. By combining mobile giving and event access, Goodworld’s text (SMS) engagement tools keep supporters connected and engaged from anywhere, creating more accessible donation opportunities and helping reach audiences at their convenience.

The Right Ask at the Right Moment

Timing is everything in fundraising, and Goodworld’s mobile messaging ensures that the right ask reaches supporters when it’s most likely to inspire action. Admins can customize mobile messaging with suggested giving amounts for one-time, recurring, or even spare change donations, aligning each communication with the organization’s goals. These customizable options help tailor outreach to a supporter’s unique giving capacity and preferences, maximizing the chance of a positive response. Additionally, all interactions feed directly into your CRM, ensuring up-to-date donor insights and a streamlined record-keeping process.

Text (SMS) Messaging for Events & Auctions

Goodworld’s Text (SMS) messaging capabilities offer flexibility and automation to support diverse event needs. With SMS keywords, supporters can text to give, register, or access event details, simplifying every aspect of event communication. Automated messages enhance engagement and provide essential reminders, such as check-in notifications, alerts when the auction is about to start or close, and even outbid notifications. These reminders help maintain supporter engagement throughout an event, ensuring they don’t miss opportunities to participate.

Auction-Specific Communications

For auctions, Goodworld’s event communication suite includes automated auction-specific notifications to keep supporters informed and engaged. Notifications like outbid alerts, final winner announcements, and timely auction receipts or invoices make the process smooth and transparent. By automating payment and confirmation messages, nonprofits reduce manual work while ensuring that donors receive prompt, clear communications regarding their auction participation. These tailored auction features create a more professional, user-friendly experience, strengthening supporter trust and encouraging repeat engagement.

Goodworld’s event communication tools bring together all aspects of mobile engagement to create an interactive, responsive event environment. This comprehensive solution helps nonprofits build stronger connections with their supporters by meeting them where they are and making it as easy as possible for them to give, participate, and stay informed.
